MTSS

Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS)

Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, or MTSS, is an education model that is used to improve student learning and promotes early identification of students who may be at risk for learning difficulties.

All students are regularly assessed in core areas to identify those who are not meeting grade-level goals. Most students will thrive in general education classrooms. For those students not meeting grade level benchmarks, interventions in the classroom (for example: fluency folder, paired reading) or additional help from the Title I teacher and/or aides on specific skills may occur to help bring them up to grade level. If you suspect your child is not progressing, please contact the school.

Progress is measured frequently. Sharon Elementary has a MTSS team comprised of 8 staff members. The team meets regularly to monitor student progress. The team may also recommend that further assessments be made by the school psychologist if the student is not making adequate progress.
